it appears some boys turned to homosexualism because they were so ugly or undesirable that

telemarketer

well you have all kinds of telemarketers

in the pristine word of science

all hours of the day

all hours of the internet

from people with prestigious jobs

that will try to sell their book

and maybe they even come with that flower print shirt
at your door
to sell it

narrow

you go into one field and you narrow it down and narrow it down and narrow it down
then you go into another field and narrow it down and narrow it down
and then you go into another field and narrow it down and narrow it down

and you become a polymath idiot

easy

it's easy to make names for everything ...if you wanna sell them

databases

ontology
what a fancy word it means talk about beings

very close to oncology

[it comes for ancient greek on the being onta the beings]

when a friend in databases said "we gonna be talking (decide (define about ontology"
i thought "man what do you need that kind of fancy language for you are in databases you put data in you take data out"

but I didn't tell him I though maybe we will need that term too, one day some day

why not say hierarchy of beings

maybe we are trying to hide some meaning here

like epistemology in plaint terms scientology

ooooh

now we are getting into something

every period has its science and its approximation to the world

I say 3x3 is 10 and everyone is satisfied and works along with it
but then a clever little guy comes along and says ".. but no 3x3 is 9" a better approximation

and we look at those people who believed the earth was flat
but that was their approximation

and we laugh at them

"how stupid they were"
as I'm sure we are the stupids of a later period

but don't let those scientists be gods in place of god

passe

is it ok for me to describe that I watched an episode of bionic woman yesterday on internet (half of it until it became passe/predictable you will notice all the energy of the actor is in the beginning and heidegger agrees with me that the truth is backwards
the truth is in the beginning
truth as in the 'first moment of disclosure'
truth as the uncovering the "let it be seen as it shows itself"

or is it better that I use a clip of it?

of course the best is what resonates with me and Benjamin said some similar that the real/whole energy is with the original

.... I prefer to show the clip

disorder

americans have an aversion to puns otherwise why would the expression "no pun intended" be created
and attain so much gravity and spread through the mass cultures

why would they not say "no lies intended"?

to work a pun as a way of high brain intention and manufacture is a disease

but not the "unintended" lower brain manufacture

like so many other "diseases" that have been manufactured like being a fast-talking bastard
is that a "disease" or "character disorder"?

what about being a hypocrite

John

- John, tell us about dad.

- Well you know he's making himself comfortable over there. Don't worry about him.

- You know he forgot a lot of his stuff, discs, clothing...

- Oh, ok I'll bring it to him next time I visit.

- He didn't ask for it? I'm surprised.

- No he didn't. When did he leave anyway?

- Just a few days ago. Right after you left on your vacation. By the way, how was the trip? You didn't tell us who you went with...

- Oh, that's a secret. Trust me it's not a big deal.

- Come on. Tell us who's the lucky lady?

- That's not gonna come up any time soon. Don't beat it.

- Ok, ok. We are not gonna insist. Did you have a good time?

- Oh yea it was pretty good, Anyway where is dad's stuff?

- Oh we haven't packed it up yet.

- You haven't packed it up yet? Ok let's do it.

- Now?

- Now! Why? It's only 8 o'clock and I've got no taste for studying right now. At least today. I'm just racing, you know, right after coming from vacation to hear that dad is gone, then to go and visit him. You know, I'm still racing, let's just do something to burn that up.

- Ok I see, well then, let's just do it. Mary, are you gonna help us?

- Sure.

- Ok let's go to his room...

- These are his discs?...Let's see we have Charlie Parker, Al Di Meola, John Coltrane...

- Yea don't mess with them they are his precious stuff. Just put them in the box in here with his clothes. You are gonna go there any time soon?

- Yea next week.

- Are you taking me there with you Johnny?

- No, no, you will go with mom some other time.

- I'm not going there.

- But you have to, mom. Sooner or later you have to visit him. You know he's not coming back. At least in the foreseeable future.

- I know that. But I don't think he wants me there.

- How do you know that?

- Otherwise why did he have to leave?

- That's a different matter. I don't know that myself. But I don't think he would mind seeing you once in a while.

- Well, I don't know about that. What I know is that he should stay with his family and kids and not go around with these bitches.

- I think you are exaggerating mom. I don't think dad is going around with any of these...what you call them.

- Sorry I got overcarried.

- Anyway, he's got his own place and you should go see him some time. Maybe he will tell you why he left.

- I don't think that will be the case but I will. Do you see anything under his bed Mary?

- No mom. There's nothing in here.

- Ok let's go then. Put everything you have in your hands in here and let's close up the box, take it downstairs. Where did you go again?

- Fort Lauderdale.

- That sounds good.

- It's getting too crowded anyhow but it's still beautiful. Miami is over flowing you know. FtL is picking up the pieces. All the rich up and coming Mexicans, I mean Cubans, are moving to FtL. I always confuse Mexicans with Cubans.

- They are latin anyhow.

- Cubans have that african element in them although they boast of their European roots. But Mexicans are more earthly people, what do you think mom, they look more like they descend from the Mayas.

- I don't know Johnny you know I'm not in good terms with history.

- Yea I know me neither. But you can see the difference in their facial characteristics. I mean between the white, or let's say whitish, Cubans and the Mexicans. Anyhow! Even though they look different I always confuse them in my speech when referring to one or another.

- They are both latin I told you!

- Yea that must be the reason...So the rich Cubans are moving up to FtL and the new ones the newcomers are taking up the space in Miami.

- I see.

- So we've got any videos to watch tonight?

- No, tomorrow is a school day, last one of the week actually. Your sister and I got to wake up early. Even if we did I wouldn't recommend it. It's 9 o'clock already. But you can stay downstairs at the TV and watch if you like.

- Ok I'll do that Goodnight then.

- Did you have anything to eat?

- No. Have we got anything?

- Just look in the kitchen and you will find it.

- OK.

- Goodnight. Take this thing down with you.

- See you tomorrow. Goodnight.

Fade an image

After having searched through I found a lot of complicated solutions, with timings and color filters etc, and some clues too. Here is a simple solution to fade out an image into darkness:

BufferedImage imi=new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
imi.getGraphics().drawImage(bi, 0, 0, w, h, null);
Graphics2D g2=(Graphics2D)imi.getGraphics();
g2.setComposite(AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.SRC_OVER, (float)0.2));
g2.setColor(Color.black);
g2.fillRect(0, 0, w, h);

That is you first draw the image itself then you draw a black on top with a given (0.2) transparency,
where bi is assumed to hold your image of interest.

For a complete and gradual fade out you use the following in your paint method:

public void paint(Graphics g) {
if(imk>times) ;
else {
if(imk==0) { g.drawImage(im, 0, 0, this); imk++; }
else {
Graphics2D g2=(Graphics2D)g;
g2.setComposite(AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.SRC_OVER, (float)rate));
g2.setColor(Color.black);
g2.fillRect(0, 0, w, h);
imk++;
}
}
}

where im is the image of interest, and times is the number of times to take to gradually withdraw.

It can be set up as

int imk=0, times=1;
double rate=0.1, limit=0.009;

times=(int)(Math.log(limit)/Math.log(1-rate));

Random Balls

S. O. B.

- Son of a bitch! What are you doing this time of year here?

- I know it's not Christmas but, hey!, what 'e heck.

- Who told you I'm here?

- Mom.

- Mom? Mom told you I'm here?

- Yea, what's so strange about it?

- Nothing, nothing. Just sit down. Just...have a seat down there.

- OK. thanks.

- So what are you doing here?

- I just got to town I thought I'd stop by to say "hi".

- What's this all about, you and your mother going on a business trip?

- Who told you that?

- Well I have my sources too.

- Yea that's true. We decided to go on a business trip together. After all I will be taking up the business pretty soon so what's the difference. I thought I'd get started, getting to know some people, you know. Sooner or later I have to meet them.

- That's right. You should have thought about that earlier.

- Why isn't this soon enough?

- Yea it's alright...I guess.

- So how's things going here? Is this your new town? Are you running for mayor pretty soon? I hear the old mayor died of heart attack. I'd say it was about time...92 years old? wow!! He deserved it.

- Well I'm not sure about that. But anyway there is a slot opening up there...and we just might fill it...

- What you have anyone else in mind?

- Just wait and see. You'll see pretty soon anyhow, the position is to be filled within 30 days of the "departure" of the other guy.

- What there's not gonna be a new election?

- No, no wait don't run so fast. It's a new rule. New rules here! The commission decides.

- The commission? What commission?

- You know the old council members plus some "prominent" members of the community, doctors, judges, lawyers, you know, business leaders, the professor of economics...

- Ah OK I know him alright. He's always on every committee that springs up.

- Yea you’re right on that one...How come you know this much about this little bitty town? I never knew you were a resident here.

- No not exactly. I just happen to know some people who work inside the college...and outside I might add.

- Oh ok that makes sense then. So what brings you here anyhow?

- Well, as I say, just got back from my vacation and thought I'd drop by to see how things go.

- Well, things go well, just fine tell your mother.

- Ok I will. So long then dad.

- What you're leaving already?

- Yea I have work to do.

- Me too. You don't see me leaving!!

- Ok...I see...So what's new?

- Well, not much. I just started the work on that project I was thinking about, you know, the one that took me three years to plan?

- Yea I know

- Well, it's getting started! Wouldn't you know it?

- Great dad. That's great. So you got some people working on it already?

- Well, not exactly but as I say it's getting started anyday now. I got them all signed up and ready to go.

- So what's holding you?

- There's this contractor who changed his design the last minute and we are running after him to change it back to the way it was. Don't worry he's coming back to town next Monday and we are set to go.

- Great. Great news. So what else?

- What, isn't that good enough news for you?

- Yea yea don't get me wrong I'm excited and everything but you know there's nothing I can do, nothing for me to do there to be honest so...

- Oh ok I see, you wanted to be part of it, isn't that what you mean?

- Well yea.

- Ok then we'll get you something...how 'bout...the roofing. You can do the roofing, can't you?

- Yea I could do that but...I'd much rather do the paint part...

- OK. It's done! The painting part it is!! Of course you know you have to wait until the other parts are done in, probably a couple of weeks, what am I saying, make that a couple of months. We might make it earlier but, you know, we have to put some structure down first.

- Yea I know. In the meantime I'll just concentrate on my studies.

- What, didn't you finish that masters already?

- No I'm graduating next semester.

- Well, we got April now, that's...8 months, ain't it? That's not too long...

- Anyhow, I've got to go.

- OK good to see you son.

- Bye dad.

- Bye.

- Catch you next week. I might drop by to see how things go with the project.

- Ok, good.

- See you later.

- Bye.

Can I create your masterpiece?

Can I create your masterpiece?

event vs. art

now Moma or some other notable museum/gallery has staged an event such as "video games as art" (very recently)

it's an event

it's just like I go down the fields and crop up a few crops
and I call it an "event"

(no art postulated in that gathering as far I can tell but simply a self-celebration of the game culture and usual hypertensives about "art" in the mouth of gallerists)

I did not see any art in that presentation maybe I missed it in some corner

there has lots to be done

dreams

sometimes I imagine sending emails to people
and sometimes I do
and they don't return my calls
because it all happens in my dreams

aaaaaaaaaaa

Object Oriented Ontology is a conflation between "computery" stuff  (Object Oriented) and high-level deep stuff  (Ontology) at the facade level
it seems they run ahead to create the terminology created the title before creating the content
and that puts them at the suspicious level

(besides genuine content doesn't need form it creates its form)

only Harman appears to be a true intellectual
while the others are yapping away endlessly and some may be  actual technologists

rock music

I do believe all genuine things will come to the fore regardless of aesthetics i.e. form

But I'm troubled by the fact that form can stand in the way of genuine content

for example I don't like rock music but I'm guessing there must be some genuine things in there (or is it all plastic superficial displayonistic? noot some people will hear arabic music and run the other way equally)

in-out-in

I've been reading this and that
about weddings and baptisms
over the notated pattern as “separation transition incorporation" or "being in the world exiled and reinstatement"

[it's clearer in baptism since you go to the water while in wedding it's unclear where you go to or you are in a transition a vague state]

this seems to be a more basic pattern of in-out-in

and it happens in many people's usual life: you are born in a group, you go out of the group (in a different city or country) and then return to the place of comfort

it can also happen as in yourself-out of yourself-in yourself again

some people never return to the original place

energy expended on the art piece

there is also energy expended that doesn't directly go to the material piece of art
one can scale that from nearly zero energy going to the piece of art (Duchamp) to moderate levels of energy going into the piece of art (Warhol)
to high levels of energy going to the piece of art (Pollock)

light art

for light art you go to Warhol
for serious art you go to Picasso
for very serious art you go to Pollock

art

a work of art can only be judged by its measure of genuiness

a work of function can also be judged by the same but we are not interested in that

a work of non-functionality can be directed by a genuine feeling in only some of its parts

(I must admit that that effort of genuinness can be at different levels, i.e. coming from different levels of the brains activities, the lower the more genuine)

thus genuiness can be scaled

monk

now you have this monk who supposedly has left the world and has isolated himself

all of a sudden you see people lining up at his door asking for his advice
and he seems to enjoy it

progress

well it has become fashionable to support gays
that's why you see in magazines such as salon slate and the like about 30% of the content devoted to that

and any other -ism that passes as progressivism in the america landscape

I don't support them and I don't un-support them

all the while the issues are not hidden under the rug but postulate themselves as drugs killing of each other and the like that characterize the american culture

Harman

I think the point Harman misses (or  taciternly accepts) is that all great things, all true things have an endless age (or don't have age to be metaphysical)

why do we still talk of Aristotle 2000 years ago?
why do we still talk of Beethoven after 500 600 or so many years ago?
why do we still talk of Darwin 200 years ago?

true, essence cannot be known (or as Godel said is unprovable within the realm of the universe, unless we go outside the universe)
but that doesn't prevent us from thinking/talking about it
I thinks that's what Heidegger was upset about

there is a nothing around the something
science says we are not to talk about the nothing since it's not measurable, let's cut the rest of it
so then science leads to nothing in a systematic way while in the meantime never addressing it

(it's true I'm almost regretting my involvement in this OOO but nothing else to do - like what the linguists did with philosophy)

WOP

A  decade ago I proposed Women-Oriented Programming (or WOP) in contrast to Object Oriented  programming which is based on hierarchies and is most favored by the male essense

since women are said to not like hierarchies
although in female groupings there is usually a "big mama" and all the other workresses running around
so there is at least a 2-level structure
