Umberto Eco is  a hack, with little substance and much flamboyance
i tried to read his Foucault's pendulum it's a pure enumeration of names (thank you Dr. Eco for a wasteful time I hope your media attention dies out so I don't s see your name again)

if it's the analogous to Reich's iterative minimalism I dislike it as well
at least in music it's only 6 or 10 minutes  rather than 10 hours  of text

Digging

if it's pretend digging it's all the wrong
it it's honestly digging away aimlessly in the hopes of finding something then it's good
if it's digging with knowing the target then I have no interest in it
